Where can I buy electricity?

The entire payment system is operated using cellular technology and SMS. This means you can buy electricity from any cellular enabled device capable of sending an SMS. Since cellular network coverage is good in most suburban areas, this means that you can buy electricity wherever you are, so long the meter account has prepaid credit and you have a mobile phone and can connect to any of the cellular networks.

 
When can I buy electricity?

You can buy electricity 24-hours a day, 7-days a week, 365-days a year. All you need is your cellphone, a cellular network connection and enough credit on your cellular account to send an SMS. Please note that various countries have different SMS charges for this.

 
Will the meter effect my Geyser?

No, the meter will not effect any electrical sub-systems in the property, including the Geyser.

The unit does not interfere with the power going into the electricity circuits of the property. The voltage and amperage that feeds into the meter are at the exact same levels when the feed out of the meter.

The meter only governs the consumption of electricity in accordance with the set prepaid limit or credit available. When these are exceeded, the unit just breaks the circuit until such time as the electricity consumed is paid for. The worst that can happen is that there will be no hot water in the event that the meter stops feeding electricity to the electric circuits.

 
Does the unit have surge protection?
Yes, surge protection is built into the meter.
 
What is Outsource Management and when is it applicable?

Outsourced Meter Management is usually chosen by landlords with many prepaid meters, body corporates and landlords that want nothing to do with the collection management and meter management.

When we are asked to do the revenue collection by the landlord or body corporate, the meter is set to include the 10% service charge in the rate charged per kilowatt consumed. This is similar to the meter reader fees and levys charged on primary meters.

For landlords there is no fee paid by the landlord. The service fee is included in the kwh rate.

All amounts collected in the Outsourced Managed option are paid over to the landlord or body corporate on the last working day of every month. The body corporate would pay the bulk meter with these fund and private landlords would pay their municipal bills with these funds.

This is not applicable for self-management, only Outsourced Management.

To choose Outsourced Management option, on your meter registration just click "Outsourced Managed". You must have purchased the meter already and have the meter number with you to do this.
